The South Carolina Aeronautics Commission (SCAC) Airport Development Staff conducts Airport Safety Data Inspections of 20-public use, non-Part 139 Airports each Federal Fiscal Year (FY: October 1st – September 30th). Though officially referred to as “inspections”, they also serve the purpose of being assistance visits for local airport staff members in the ever-changing, and increasingly technical world of airport safety, operations, and maintenance.
Site visits are usually accomplished within a single workday and are coordinated in advance with the Airport Management Staff. Aeronautics Airport Development staff members will arrive with all vehicles, equipment, aviation band radios, and personal protective equipment (PPE) necessary to conduct the site visit in a safe and efficient manner. Deliverables provided from these visits include an update to the Airport’s Master Record (AMR) and a written report of recommended actions to ensure peak maintenance, safety, and efficiency.
